Description of your role and the shoot:
This casting call is for background actors of all types, ages, shapes, sizes and energy levels!
The basic scenario is that there is a major athletic competition going on in the film. And you will be interacting with that environment around you, as well as taking direction from us regarding what’s happening in whichever segment we are shooting. Sometimes that might require you to stand or sit, walk or chill, cheer or boo, clap or throw those hands up, laugh or scream, or, maybe even say a specific line or do a more specified action.
We need as many bodies as we can get! And we can promise you that you will be seen on camera. This isn’t a situation of just sit in the back and maybe you’ll show up as a speck in the background of the film. We will be shooting intimate shots involving some of the main characters in Fight 4 Your Life. You will be near them, interacting with them and most likely will be seen with them.
We like to call our background actors, just that, ACTORS, not extras, because they are more than just extra bodies to us. They are a pivotal element of the world within the film.
Please note in the context of the event taking place in the film, we do ask children be 14 years or older. It’s not an event that younger children would really be at, with it being a professional combat competition in a very adult environment. We would prefer if a parent or guardian attends with a minor also.
Please note harsh language is used throughout the segments we are filming on this date. If you are faint of heart to foul words you might want to think twice about this shoot. Don’t get us wrong though. It’s not anything too bad. And we definitely don’t want to scare you off. Just a heads up is all. Anyway, even if you’re not comfortable with bad language you should challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone as an actor!
All we ask is that you be serious about the part, available on August 19th and ready to have some fun. We can’t ask much more than that, as these are unpaid roles. We know that stings! We respect our actors, as do we respect everyone involved in this ambitious project, which we urge you to learn more about by way of this site. If this isn’t for you, due to the non-pay, we totally understand and wish you well. We are totally transparent about this very important detail so not to confuse or frustrate down the line. Just know we’re all in the same boat on this one.
We know you have to pick your pro-bonos, if at all, wisely. We hope you see this project as something worthy of your time and energy. We, and so many others in the F4YL community, think it is!
Please understand we’ve done all we can to make this project come to fruition. And we’ve done it all for the story and the awesome community of people that have made this thing happen. As we go into the final push of production, we truly hope you join the fight!
Things to note:
- We are setting up car pool groups for folks coming from the Sacramento Area. So, if you want to come aboard but don’t have a ride, don’t let that deter you.
- All cast and crew involved in our project get proper credit in the film, on this site and on IMDb. Really, that’s the least we can do for your time and efforts.
- Refreshments will be provided at the shoot. And there will be some cool giveaways too.
- The day will be wrapped by 4:00pm or slightly after. We are splitting it into the above detailed morning session and afternoon session. If you can make both sessions we will love you even more!
- 3X World Champ Tony “The Tiger” Lopez will be on set to sign autographs, if that appeals to you.
All in all this promises to be a good time! Most of all, you’ll be helping a solid local project get one step closer to completion. Show that Northern California love and start yourself on the path to stardom!

Thank you for your consideration and time. We appreciate your support and hope to have YOU there!

What is Fight 4 Your Life?
Fight 4 Your Life is an action packed fantasy adventure film produced 100% in Northern California by a dedicated team of local independent filmmakers under the alias of the one studios crew, with one studios being their production company. This rollercoaster of a movie mixes an eccentric cast of characters into an original story that spans decades. A lighthearted ride that never takes itself overly serious, but also has plenty of dramatic depth, there is something for everyone in this movie.
Here is a summary…
- Since being discovered as a troubled youth Fleet Blackwood has slowly transformed himself to achieve greatness in the boxing ring. His long time rival now awaits him on the night of their highly anticipated match. But this night will prove more a challenge than any mere battle in the ring, as Fleet is unexpectedly thrust into a flurry of peculiar obstacles, each calling for a unique key to victory. A fantastic journey unfolds that forces him to not simply draw upon the teachings of his training, but to also truly understand them….and himself. Fleet must now fight, or fall.
Fight 4 Your Life, at its core, is a tale of overcoming the many challenges that mean to hold us back in life, no matter who we are or from where we hail. Nothing worth anything comes easy. And we look to emphasize that in this film by exemplifying positive messages of growth, realization and determination, while also doing our best to truly entertain!
After a hard fought battle over the last 5 years, Fight 4 Your Life is now nearing the end of its long production journey. But there is still time for you to join the fight!
Join us for one of our final major shoots, where we’ll be capturing vital shots for key sequences in the film.
Will you get credit for your time and efforts?
Absolutely!
Fight 4 Your Life is a community. And every member of that community that aids in the production of this project gets placed into the ending credits of the film, which also are displayed on the official site.
You will also be listed in association with the film on IMDb, which is the world’s largest database of television and cinema professionals. It’s the least we can do for your help.
What is the outline of the day? When does filming start and end?
We will be starting filming at 9:00am, but ask you show up at 8:30 am if you attend the morning session. The day will be split into a morning session and an afternoon session. So, if you can’t make the morning session, come to the afternoon session, or vice versa. The afternoon session will start around 12:00pm but we ask you get there by 11:00am….the sooner the better really, to give us more time to get you situated and in the mix of things.
We’ll never turn you away. We need all the bodies we can get to fill seats. So, feel free to come at any time during the day if you are running late or have other priorities beforehand. Getting there before a session starts simply allows us to have a better game plan going into each segment and to get things settled on set, allowing us to get started faster. Once we start rolling it’s really tough to change things up or wait around for folks to get in the know.
Time will be extremely valuable to us at the shoot, as we have to be finished shooting by 4:00pm. 9:00am-4:00pm might seem like a long time. But trust when we say that will go by in a flash. Once we start we really won’t stop shooting until the end of the day. We can’t stress how important this shoot is to us and this project. We have to take advantage of every minute to get what we need.
If you can be there for the full duration of the shoot day it will provide us with the most flexibility to get the shots we need. It will also give you the most chances to be seen in the film. No matter the time you can give though, we appreciate you.
Do I need to bring anything? What should I wear?
We ask you bring 3-5 changes of clothes and a hat or two. That doesn’t mean each item change needs to be extravagant.
For example, you can wear the same pair of jeans but bring several shirts/blouses and a jacket. Having a hat and a beanie with you would be great too so you can hide your face a bit for some shots, while others you will not. Glasses are always a great accessory as well.
The purpose of having different things to wear is so that we can shift you around and use you in different places when needed. It’s like you just turned into four or five different people for us! Our arena just got that much more filled. Will you necessarily be shifted around that many times? Maybe not. But it’s always better to be prepared. And it will give us the more options to use you, allowing you to have more fun and stay involved.
As for the type of clothing….The event taking place in the film during the segments we’re shooting on this day is a major sporting event. Therefore, think about what you would wear to such an event. It’s a fairly casual attire type of thing for most people. But some people do like to dress up a bit, in perhaps, a blazer or a nice skirt. Keep the knowledge in mind of what type of scenario it is suppose to be in the film and you’ll be fine.
We will be shooting a handful of shots that require background actors to act as FACILITY STAFF, WELL DRESSED SECURITY AGENTS and BUSINESS MEN / WOMEN types….think MANAGERS, BIG SHOTS, ETC. If you can, bring a suit or more business type of attire as well so you can be a part of those segments. We also may provide you with a certain wardrobe piece on set, which will gather from you after the shots are completed.
No matter what though, please, NO LOGOS. Nike swooshes, sports teams swag, giant brand names blasted on the front of your shirt or hat are all examples of logos. If it’s really small you’ll probably be fine. And you can always wear a jacket over it too. But we really can’t have any sort of logo seen on camera for legal reasons.
We appreciate your understanding when it comes to this. And we don’t want you to over think it either, allowing something as silly as what you’re going to wear be a factor of you deciding not to come be a part of this shoot. The most important thing is you show up. Bringing the right stuff with you just helps ensure you get seen even more!
Should I contact you before the shoot?
Although we’re happy to have you just drop in on the shoot day, by applying via this casting site we will now be able to contact you to confirm with you if you are committed to absolutely coming or not. We get it. Committing is hard. But we can’t say enough how important this shoot is for this project. When we are able to get a confirmation or a “maybe” or even a definite “no” it allows us to make a better game plan for shoot day and be realistic with what to expect.
Furthermore, when we have your contact information we can actually provide you the info you need and later update you in regards to the progress of the project.
Will I need to sign anything?
Everyone will be required to sign a waiver on set, which will also ask for your contact info. If you refuse to sign this simple waiver we cannot provide you credit for your involvement in the project. Any minor on set will need a parent or legal guardian to sign this waiver for him/her to provide consent.
You can download the mandatory waiver here:
Please send the completed waiver to us here or print it and bring it with you to the shoot!
You can send us the waiver ahead of time electronically, as described above. Or, you can print it out and have it with you on shoot day. That would especially be great for minors….and please don’t try to cheat that kids. The document is super easy to do. However, we will have copies on set as well.
Everyone will need to provide us a waiver before leaving on shoot day. If for some odd reason you do not provide us a signed waiver we will do our best to reach out to you to get one after the shoot. But please don’t make us do that. Chances are we will not know and won’t be able to provide you credit for your participation as a result, especially if you happen to just show up on shoot day without emailing us or filling out the registration document on this page before hand. How will we even know who you are???
All the waiver states is that you are providing us the right to use your image, likeness, voice, etc., on camera for the purpose of this project, whether that be for the film itself, or for marketing / advertisement purposes, etc., like on our social media pages, this very website or in upcoming trailers or other video material we make to help promote the film. If you have any questions about the waiver we’re happy to answer them and explain further on the shoot day.
But just know waivers/agreements are a necessary part of production. They help to protect the project and those hard working people involved in it, including YOU. In no way, shape or form are we trying to have you sign something that will in some way harm you or your likeness. Nor will we use any material of you in a negative manner. It’s all positive friends. This document is just as much an important for you as it is us.
What else can you expect on the shoot day?
Refreshments will be provided and we’ll also be handing out some cool Fight 4 Your Life memorabilia to lucky attendees.
3X World Champ boxer, and Sacramento native, Tony “The Tiger” Lopez, who is a big part of this project himself, will also be there to meet and greet and sign some autographs.
Who knows, maybe there will be some additional surprises as well…..such as one month passes for XBOX Live Gold!
Is this a paid shoot?
We’re sorry to say it, as we greatly appreciate your efforts and time, but, no, this is not a paid shoot. Every penny we have goes into the make or break costs to make the shoot happen; things like location fees, rentals and refreshments for our cast and crew. Those make or break costs take everything out of us. Our producer has paid for the vast majority of this project out of pocket over the last five years, doing everything he can to make it happen. But he’s no rich guy. He’s an average Joe barely keeping his head above water at times, all for the love of this project…not simply for himself, but for all those involved….for the project.
You may say, “Well, paying your cast should be part of those costs.” We can’t really argue that friend. We understand and respect the grind. We’re doing our best. All we can say is we give back as much as possible. But the main way we can give back is by completing this very ambitious project for all those involved, hopefully that includes YOU.
If this project isn’t for you, due to it being non-pay, we absolutely understand and wish you the best. Know we greatly appreciate your skill, time and experience. This is why we are 100% transparent and honest about the pay situation of this project, so not to be unclear or leave room for misinterpretation or false promises of current or future pay.
It is what it is. And we still hope to have your support. The filmmaking and artistic communities mean a great deal to us, despite any beliefs or resentment some may feel about us not being able to pay our cast. It is by clear choice our cast has joined this project. Simply put, they believe it. So, know that no matter how big of a role any cast member has signed on for, they’re in the same boat as you with the non-pay. Some cast members have been involved in this project from day one, that being five years ago, with absolutely no money on the table or promised. That’s how much people love this project.
With Fight 4 Your Life we aim to give back to those communities we support and value by way of a significant work with a positive message, as well as by bringing people together to not only network and build a new community, but to also show the quality a project can have if a community truly believes in it and doesn’t cut corners on those aspects of filmmaking that are able to be highly achieved regardless of money. A lot of filmmaking is time….which tends to equal money in this world. We are fortunate and greatly appreciate the time everyone has given to making this project a reality.
Fight 4 Your Life is the epitome of a passion project. Understanding that and believing in the project is what has gotten us so far. And it will be what allows us to push through our final shoots ahead and those challenges associated with them, ultimately completing this hard fought movie.
As cheesy as it sounds, the compensation of having been a part of such a collaborative effort, having been part of something unique and great, a positive memory for all, is well worth a day of your life. We hope you join the fight.
